Minisode 13 Transcription

Erin (00:00):

Welcome to improve it! The podcast. Improve it, family. It is me and it's just me on this minisode today, sometimes I have guests, sometimes it's just me and today I'm sitting in my podcast closet. I have a very tall cup of coffee in my teal yeti. What is this called? Thermo. Okay. And this is not an ad for Yeti, but if anyone from Yeti is listening, I have multiple of your products in teal. Thank you. I wanna say improve fam, a big cheers to you. Take your coffee mug, take your water bottle. Where are wherever you are in the world. That was hard to say. I wanna just stop and take a pause and give you a big cheers for taking the time to commit and invest in your personal and professional growth. So cheers to you, cheersing you in the microphone, taking a sip. That's hot, but I wanted to talk to you today.

Erin (01:13):

Number one, to cheers you to say congrats, but also to talk to you about scaling your career. Do you want to scale? Do you want to move forward, take the next step and accelerate your trajectory of growth? Do you want to do that in six months? It, if this sounds like you keep listening, keep those coffee mugs in hand. Keep those water bottles next to you. Let's hydrate. Let's get caffeinated, but let me talk to you a little bit about what we've got going on here and improve it. So if you are a leader who wants to up level their career with a likeminded group of lifelong learners, AK, Hey, the lifelong learners, are you the improve it fam try saying that five times fast though. Lifelong learner, lifelong learner life. It's hard. It's a twister. But if that sounds like you, then I've got something for you, the improve it mastermind.

Erin (02:25):

So for six months, I personally me will take you and a small, but very mighty group of powerhouse professionals on a journey that will help you learn how to better support, how to better focus, how to be more present, how to network like the pro Fashional you are and how to lead with transparency. When we are done with this six month mastermind, we will create a vision for your career that will have you exactly where you wanna be while stepping into the powerful human and the powerful leader that you always knew you could become. So let's break this down each month. There will be a new workshop and a new theme. Every month we will talk deeply and dive into a new power skill. And so I wanna just touch on those with you really quick, because these are things that we teach and improve it to teams.

Erin (03:32):

We teach them to teams. The beautiful thing, this mastermind is that say your organization can't bring in or doesn't see the value of working with improve it at this point. However, you've been listening to the show and you're like, oh my gosh, I would love to have the opportunity to work with Erin to work with improve it. Oh my gosh, this is how we do it. And we're going to your life alongside of the life of other similar like-minded leaders who care about people who are people, people who wanna make the world and work a better place. So here's how we're gonna do that. The first month, we're gonna do an entire theme on stop collect and listen, we're gonna talk about team building. You're gonna get to know your cohort. You're going to learn how to support each other. And through that lens also learn how to support your teams.

Erin (04:32):

We're gonna talk about showing up even when you're not asked to show up how you can show up and how to collaborate effectively within your organizations, but also the cohort. So we start there month two. We're gonna talk about how to think quickly on your feet. So if you're ever at work and you're about to give a one-on-one or have a very crucial conversation or give feedback or stand in front of a room of people and your mind goes completely blank, we're gonna tee you how to refocus so that you're completely present how to trust yourself and your gut. And if you can do that, that others will follow suit. And when both of those things are aligned, you'll get out your targeted message. We're also gonna teach you in month three. So month three, how to network like a pro, how to network like a pro.

Erin (05:28):

Let me just say this. The world is coming back. We are feeling this in person connection. Again, zoom will always still be a networking tool, but we're gonna really teach you how to be present in that moment. How to invoke and create trust and commonalities with individuals, and then how to have engaging conversations that create long lasting relationships month four. We're gonna talk about presenting like a rock star. Okay. So what does this mean? This means that we are gonna talk to you all about getting yourself in a positive place before you present. When you prepare for presentations, how to think outside of the box, how do you storytelling to captivate your audience? And when you can do those things, you'll have a very product presentation, and we will guide you through this topic very carefully because presentations are conversations. That's how we look at them.

Erin (06:27):

So that's month, four month, five, it's all about authentic leadership. So how to communicate with transparency, how to inspire your team and remove the ranked card so that everybody feels like they have a voice or seat at the table and then how to create and momentum and achieve goals. And once those goals are achieved, how to sustain that motivation and continuously keep people involved and motivated. Now month six, we're gonna take all for of those things. And now that you have the power tools and your tool belt, we're gonna set the vision for your career growth. So that's where we really get specific on what is the next year of your career look like? What does it mean for you? What does acceleration in your career, career scale scaling your career? So this starts in may of 2022 may of 2022 it's application first. So you have to apply in order to become a part of this program.

Erin (07:32):

I'll tell you why more about that in just a little bit, but no, we start in, may we go through a October of 20, 22. It is so much to offer. All right, every month we're gonna have a live session and that's the workshop. It's an hour and a half. If you go to our page, that is going to talk to you all about the mastermind. We'll have it in the show notes here for you. Click on that link and it will take you directly to the mastermind page. All of the dates for all of these sessions will be there, but we are going to have a live in person workshop every month. We're going to have pre-work comedic videos that come to you before each session. So you watch the pre-work, it's very funny. It's like three or four minutes. And then you also come to of the live session before that live session.

Erin (08:22):

We're also in that prework asking you a questionnaire. So we understand your challenges and your objectives. As we go into that live workshop, then we do the workshop. And in those workshops, it is so interactive. You're gonna get to know your cohort so well, we're gonna do breakout groups in those live sessions. You're going to really work together very, very closely with your team. Now on top of these live sessions, you're gonna get a three week DIY learning course built in conjunction with these live sessions. And that's at your own pace are gonna come to you via email. There's a PDF. There is a worksheet and there's audio of this amazing nasal twang voice on there that you'll get. And that's too further just reinforce what we taught in the live session and add in some new learning elements for you. Each module is probably five to seven minutes.

Erin (09:14):

So taking that time for yourself three days a week is so crucial. What you put into this, you will get out of it. So that's included. And then on top of that, we're gonna have monthly accountability calls. So towards the end of every month, we're gonna check in together as a cohort, see how it's going, see what we need to correct. See what wins are in that specific topic of the month in that we'll also have power coaching. So we're gonna get each person the ability to ask a question in that accountability call. And we'll dive deeper into that. You'll get peer to peer coaching. We're gonna have slack office hours. So if you have questions or wanna just share some wins with the group, when we're not in live sessions, you'll have that accountability as well as that opportunity. And again, you're gonna walk away with a one year growth plan for your career and a community of like-minded individuals that will help share in your career growth for years to come.

Erin (10:17):

Let me say this. I was a part of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 small business program, which is a program built for business owners. I did that program in 2018 and then we created a five year growth plan for our business, which included live in person events. That was hilarious. Long story short. They did a reboot for anybody whose growth plan went to the paper in 2021. And through that, I reconnected with my old cohort from, from 2018. And I have a mastermind every Monday, a group of women, business owners, and I meet and we talk about our wins, what we need help with. And we support each other. That group has gotten me through so many problems, so many struggles. So that community that you're going to receive from this improvement mastermind is just crucial for your career growth for accountability. So this mastermind is for you.

Erin (11:15):

If you are tired of with the notion, this is the way we've always learned. If you wanna up level your leadership approach with fresh and innovative ways to collaborate, if you want tips and tricks on how to think more quickly at meetings and in your one oh ones and in your internal and external presentations, if you want to focus on creating meaningful relationships and kick those transactional relationships to the curve, if you wanna win the room with your public speaking skills, and you wanna create conversations versus presentations, if you want a strategic roadmap and a vision for the next year of your career. And if you want a group of lifelong learners to be your lifelong friends and biggest advocates, this mastermind is so as I'm in, this is different than what we do. We normally work in a B2B setting. We work with teams.

Erin (12:18):

This mastermind allows you the improve it fan the individual who wants to do the work and improve yourself professionally pun intended on the improve. It allows you that opportunity to do so. And it's also different than any mastermind you will find out there. I guarantee you because we use improv to guide the way. Now, if you are a longtime listener of this show, you know, the magic of improv, you know how impactful improv is for business, but if you've never seen it in action or listened to the show, this is your first time. Let me just stop you. Improv is a teaching tool. It allows you to postpone judgment of yourself and postpone judgment of others. And it allows you to be fully. Now it's in that moment where you're fully present, and you're not caring about what Sally thinks about you or judging your own internal thoughts that we drop this hypothetical mask that we've learned to work.

Erin (13:29):

And we have learned masks to work well before 2020 friends, we become, when we take those masks off, be truest versions of ourselves. And in that moment, when we allow that true person, that whole being to show up, when you're right there, we slide right in and we make you laugh. And then we teach it's tricky, right? It sounds mean we're tricking you, but it works. And we teach you the power tools that you will need to accelerate your career growth and the skills that will you will use continuously throughout your career. It will rock your socks. Just trust me. I want you to think of it like hypnotism using laughter and clay and experiential learning with friends. So it's not like hypnotism at all. Okay? No, it's not. I, that, that was the, that was the way to go. But guarantee you is that you, you and you lay the found for optimal career growth.

Erin (14:38):

Now that improve it. We have case study after case study and client testimonials galore. They are sprinkled all over our website with people leaders who have seen change in their teams based off of our workshops and interactions. You've listened to this show, you know, all types of people that we've worked with fortune 500 fortune, 100 small mom and pop shops, everyone in between we've transformed their teams through this amazing art form. We have impacted over 20,000 people with the power of improv. I would love to help you improve the way that you show up at work. So this is application only. It is a probably 10 minute application process. You can find that on our website, every link that you will need is in the show notes on this episode. And we're only going to allow a very few select number of people in so that I can give you my fullest attention.

Erin (15:44):

And you are not going to regret it. And you are going to be completely transformed through the magic of this teaching tool improvisation. At the end of these six months, you won't believe the amazing amount of support, confidence, creativity, and bravery that others see in you, but more important.
